The Surffamily, The Surftainability
In our previous life we were not doing badly, at the cost of spending most of the year working at jobs that did not fulfil us. Only in summer, when we had our friends, the sun and the sea back in our lives, did we feel totally happy.
On a nearby beach, where we used to go in our uncle's old car, there used to be people surfing. We were fascinated by those surfers and their lifestyle; sometimes we even tried to catch some waves with an old board in the garage. But when the holidays were over, we would go back to our routine and then we would go back to our routine until the following year.
One day the idea came up to do something completely different and abandon everything that was not satisfying us in our life. As children we were fascinated to see our grandmother making her own dresses, some shirts for our grandfather and even knitting jumpers for us. She even made them in the colors and patterns we wanted! In those days our interest in clothes was awakened, so why not take this family heritage, adapt it to our way of seeing life and show it to the world? That's what we did and it makes me think of something our grandmother used to tell us, and that is that our path in life seems to be marked; the people you meet, the experiences you have, guide you along that path and, even if you want to deviate from it, you end up returning to that path. It is as if you are on the crest of a wave. If my grandmother had been English she would have said: ‘Life is a wave. Catch it!’
Our outlook on life comes from a multitude of experiences: What we have learned at home, the places we have visited, the books we have read, the people we have met... The surfing lifestyle has had a lot to do with our commitment to caring for our environment and working towards a more liveable planet. This is what we call Surftainability or Surftainability. We have applied this commitment to The Surfcar with the following principles:
- At The Surfcar we work in an environmentally responsible way.
- All our packaging is recycled and recyclable.
- Our products are designed and manufactured by us, here. We work with people who have been with us our whole life, with whom we understand each other perfectly, and we make sure that the distance our product travels to you is as short as possible.
- We recycle everything that can be recycled, not only packaging: paper, cardboard, plastics, computer consumables, textile waste...
- Our company is ISO14001 certified, which demonstrates our commitment to caring for the environment. We optimize energy and material consumption by being at the forefront of technology, with the highest possible production efficiency.
- The fabrics we use are ECO-FRIENDLY. We have the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certificate, which guarantees that all the components of our garments are harmless in human ecological terms.
